Anyone else having trouble navigating it? I see my contacts but I can't tell who's online, offline, away, etc. And it doesn't seem to have the option to sort them by such statuses anymore.

It actually use to be so much better, until they decided that they wanted to add in a bunch more useless features. All you can really do is send polite feedback offering them constructive criticism.

Is there any way to downgrade it?

Post 4 by forereel (Just posting.) on Wednesday, 16-Aug-2017 14:31:48

It was better, but mine works well actually.
Seems they are using the 3D touch to make stuff happen.
For example, if I want to delete past calls, I press it then I can delete it.
The contacts buttons are at the top and I can go to them and they do show who's online.

You can choose Skype contacts, or all of them, such as in my case, I have lots of regular telephone numbers.
To call, I have to tap it.
It was some what of a learning curve, and I hated it at first, but it does workwell.
I don't guess you can downgrade on an iPhone.

Nope, still don't see who's online.

Well, even if you had someway to downgrade it you'd be prompted for an update. also, the last time I had a that on my phone you couldn't change your skype status either

I could change my status.
I wonder if it is one of these iPhone things were some folks get different results from the app?

I haven't gotten it again yet to see anything. but months ago when I last got it it wouldn't let me at all.

You also have to understand that not everyone prefers 3D touch. Don't forget too that some people still have phones that don't have 3D touch, and to them, deleting stuff on the phone is still not presently possible.

I can see my contacts but I'm not sure where to go to change status either.

Yes, I thought about the 3D touch issue.
It has to work for all phones that can use it, or they should put something in the notes saying it is only available for whatever.
If it matters, I suggest contacting the disability section and asking about that.
I'll try to explain how to change status. As I've posted, it was quite a learning curve, and I really didn't like it much.

Okay.
No, I guess I don’t see a way to manually change status, but it changes.
If you aren’t active and close the app, like messenger, you go offline.
If you don’t want to be bothered, you go in your settings and change your notifications.
So, it seems to now work like say Facebook, Messenger, or other apps.
Under settings, you can flat sign out of it too.

I made it go bye bye for now.

I have an iPhone 5C, so admittedly old, but Skype is unusable for me now because the keyboard when composing messages (which I mostly do) is sluggish and unresponsive to the point where it takes me ages just to say hello.

seems like the latest skype for iphone break a couple of things again. the most annoying is that now there are limitations on how you can view your contacts. either skype, all, or active. When you view it as skype, it gives you all the contacts you have on skype, without showing their status. and when you view it as 'active', it only shows you contacts that are online, but not those that are on away statuses.
and of course, the user online status problem still not solve with the latest update as well. GRR

I think it works fine, wonderfully. The only device that is actually keeping me
going on Skype. They ruined the one for the mac, so I am using the one on the
phone which still seems like it's not bad.

So did they get rid of that crap all over the screen about themes and colors?

Post 18 by forereel (Just posting.) on Sunday, 14-Jan-2018 8:38:39

Good news. If you are running the latest OS, the new Skype is working nicely again.
Now, history has proved this probably won't last, but for now, enjoy it.
Its good.

Post 19 by Imprecator (The Zone's Spelling Nazi) on Thursday, 18-Jan-2018 17:01:36

Nope. I have the latest and it's still the same.

Post 20 by season (the invisible soul) on Thursday, 18-Jan-2018 23:43:06

no, the latest is definitely easier to use, more user friendly. the themes and colour still there, but it does not make amy different in terms of accessibility.
